The Eternal Soul and the Magic Carpet Ride It Should Take Us on.

The Eternal Soul and the Magic Carpet Ride It Should Take Us on.

Is the soul the only thing in the universe that doesn’t have to obey the laws of physics? No. To exist it must. If not I could travel to the furthest reaches of the universe in an instant or sit on the event horizon of a black hole without being sucked in. I should be able to do that right now: while my body is alive so I can come back and talk about it with my mouth. I should be able to separate my soul from my body if it was true that I am not my body. Doesn't it depend on organic matter to support it? I think it does. The separation is a trick of evolution. It would be one hell of a drug-free magic carpet ride if you could do it. It's incumbent upon those who believe in the eternal soul as separate to figure out how to make that happen and then show us all how. Faith, as a belief in something supernatural for which there is no proof, is not the engine for the carpet ride. It is not enough. It is meaningless to me if I can't have my magic carpet ride. I want to go to a different galaxy. If the soul is not subject to the physical laws of the universe then it shouldn't be subject to the physical laws of the universe.
